The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to prosecute persons involved in double registration after the conclusion of the continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise on the 30th of June, 2022.
The Commission, made this known through its Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Rufus Akeju while briefing newsmen about the activities of the commission within Ondo State in Akure.
According to him, the new electoral law enables the Commission to go ahead and prosecute those who engaged in double registration, adding that they will be fished out upon completion of the continuous voter registration exercise, and scanning of the updated voter register.
Akeju also revealed that as at 30, May 2022, 193,901 persons had registered while 296, 965 permanent voter cards were ready for collection but has since not been collected.
