An Economic Expert, Kofoworola Akinjo, has challenged political leaders to be sincere with their manifestos and not contest for office without aiming to walk their talk.
He made this statement while speaking about a world bank report that shows that the naira is one of the worst performing currencies in Africa, on Crest FM’s Programme, The Crest Breakfast Show.
Akinjo suggested that the leaders should work towards strengthening the currency via formulation of policies that encourage local production, discourage importation and reduce inflation.
He expressed optimism that if the parallel exchange rate that is currently being worked out by the federal government works, the economy might in turn become better.
It would be recalled that the World Bank, in the said report, claimed that the Nation’s currency weakened by nearly 40 per cent against the US dollar since a mid-June devaluation.
