The federal executive council (FEC) has approved the sum of N1.06 billion for the procurement of night vision goggles and eye-scanning lie detector equipment.

According to Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation, the equipment is to enhance the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Speaking at the end of Wednesday’s FEC meeting, Malami said the memos for the purchase of the equipment were presented by the ministry of justice and approved by the council.

He stressed that Nigeria’s technology has improved to the extent that the nation now have in place technological equipment that has the capacity to detect whether you are indeed speaking the truth or indeed you are lying in the course of investigation.
