The Deputy State Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), Dr. Boluwaji Oshodi, has said the union’s recently announced indefinite and total strike commenced as a result of the breach in agreement by the federal government.
Dr Oshodi, while featuring on Crest FM’s “Eyi Ara” yesterday, said ASUU only demanded revitalization of Nigerian universities in the country to attain global standard, and to secure the future of the country.
Meanwhile, the Chairman Ondo State Joint Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Mr Omotosho Surprise, who spoke on behalf of the students said, they are unhappy with the development as it is to their detriment.
Omotosho, who opined that the students union bodies will proffer an option on the issue after their elections, however urged the government and ASUU to reach an agreement on the lingering strike as soon as possible.
