A Public Affairs Analyst, Abolade Olayemi, has decried the poor level of security at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices across the country, despite the importance of the commission to the entire nation.
Olayemi while speaking on Crest Fm’s programme, The Crest Breakfast Show, said INEC facilities which have a lot to do with the destiny of the nation should have a lot of surveillance to adequately safeguard them.
Speaking on the Permanent Voter Cards that were burnt, a legal Expert, Ibukun Fasanmi, expressed hope that it would not contribute to the disenfranchisement of electorate and apathy that INEC is guarding against.
According to the electoral umpire, in the past two years, at least 41 offices of the electoral commission have been attacked across Nigeria by armed non-state actors, arsonists, unknown gunmen and other criminal elements.
